Echoes of the Past, Preserved for Tomorrow
When historians discuss “historic preservation,” they are referring to the protection of sites, buildings, structures, objects, landscapes, and historic districts—those tangible places and things you can see, touch, hear, and smell. This is distinct from preserving our oral traditions, written histories, artifacts, or archival materials.
